back dive

Pool entry backwards

A back dive is a dive performed facing away from the water, with the diver falling or springing backward off the platform or board.

The diver may enter the water headfirst or feetfirst depending on the specific dive.

In competitive diving, back dives form one of the standard categories of dives.
