sacrifice fly
Run-scoring popup out
A sacrifice fly is a baseball play where a batter hits a fly ball caught for an out, but deep enough to allow a runner on third base to tag up and score.
The batter is credited with an RBI but not charged with an at-bat, since the out advanced the team's position: He drove in the winning run on a sacrifice fly to center field.
