walk-off

Final at-bat winner

A walk-off is a game-ending play in baseball—a hit, home run, or other play that immediately wins the game for the home team, so called because both teams walk off the field afterward: He hit a walk-off homer in the bottom of the ninth.

The term extends to any dramatic, decisive conclusion: a walk-off victory, a walk-off goal.
