opposite field
Batter's far side
In baseball, the opposite field is the side of the field away from a batter's natural pull.
For a right-handed hitter, that's right field; for a lefty, left field.
Hitting to the opposite field—going with an outside pitch rather than pulling it—demonstrates bat control and is considered a valuable skill: He drove the ball to the opposite field for a double.
