royal library
Crown's book repository
A royal library is a library established, owned, or patronized by a monarchy.
Some began as private collections of kings and queens, later opening to scholars or the public.
Many royal libraries have evolved into national libraries: The Royal Library of Denmark holds the country's legal deposit collections.
The term may also describe libraries housed in royal palaces or residences.
