street library
Neighborhood book exchange
A street library is a small, publicly accessible structure—often a weatherproof box or cabinet—where people can take and leave books freely.
Usually installed in front yards, parks, or sidewalks, these community book exchanges operate on an honor system: I found a great novel at the street library down the block.
Also called a Little Free Library, after the nonprofit that popularized the concept.
