lion hunts
Savanna stalking expeditions
Lion hunts are organized expeditions to track and kill lions, historically practiced as tests of courage and displays of power by royalty and aristocrats.
In modern contexts, the term typically refers to controversial trophy hunting safaris in Africa: The lion hunt cost him fifty thousand dollars.
The phrase can also describe lions hunting prey, though this sense is less common: We watched the lion hunts from our jeep.
