rocket stage

Separable propulsion module

A rocket stage is a self-contained section of a rocket with its own engines and fuel supply.

Multi-stage rockets shed each stage after its fuel is exhausted, reducing weight and allowing the remaining stages to accelerate more efficiently.

The first stage provides initial liftoff; upper stages continue the journey: The second stage ignited after separation.

Staging made moon missions possible.
