rocker arms
Pivoting valve levers
Rocker arms are lever-like components in an internal combustion engine that transfer motion from the camshaft to the valves, opening and closing them in sequence.
They pivot on a shaft or ball, rocking back and forth as the engine runs—hence the name.
The mechanic replaced the worn rocker arms to stop the ticking noise.
