roastmaster
Celebrity ribbing host
A roastmaster is the person who presides over a roast—a comedic event where speakers take turns mocking a guest of honor with jokes and insults.
The roastmaster introduces speakers, keeps the event moving, and often delivers their own barbs.
The term parallels toastmaster, the host of more dignified tribute dinners, but with deliberate irreverence.
The roastmaster reminded everyone that nothing was off-limits tonight.
