roadmender
Asphalt repair worker
A roadmender is a worker who repairs roads, filling potholes and maintaining surfaces.
The term is chiefly British and somewhat old-fashioned, evoking an era of manual labor before modern paving machinery: The roadmender leaned on his shovel, watching traffic pass.
