Sprayed asphalt with stones
Chipseal is a road surfacing method where hot liquid asphalt is sprayed on pavement and immediately covered with small crushed stone chips, then rolled to embed them.
It's cheaper than full repaving and common on rural roads and residential streets.
The result is a rougher, noisier surface than smooth asphalt: The county chipsealed our road last summer.
