rim brake
Grips the wheel
A rim brake is a bicycle braking system that works by pressing pads against the wheel's rim.
The pads grip the outer edge of the wheel rather than a central disc, slowing rotation through friction.
Rim brakes are lighter and simpler than disc brakes but perform poorly in wet conditions: I switched to disc brakes because my rim brakes were useless in the rain.
