rib injury
Broken side bone
A rib injury is damage to one or more of the curved bones forming the chest wall—typically a fracture, bruise, or separation from the cartilage connecting ribs to the sternum.
Rib injuries are painful and slow to heal because breathing constantly moves the affected area: He's out for six weeks with a rib injury.
Unlike limb fractures, rib fractures usually aren't splinted or cast—treatment is mainly rest and pain management.
