rewaxing

Another protective layer

Rewaxing is applying a fresh coat of wax to something that has been waxed before.

Floors, cars, skis, and surfboards all require periodic rewaxing to maintain their finish or performance: The hardwood floors need rewaxing every few years.

The prefix re- indicates repetition of an earlier waxing.
