reverse layup

Opposite-side basket shot

A reverse layup is a basketball shot where a player drives past the basket and releases the ball from the opposite side of the rim, using the backboard as a shield against defenders.

The shooter's body passes under or beside the hoop before flipping the ball up and back: She finished with a beautiful reverse layup off the glass.

It requires ambidexterity and body control, often looking acrobatic when executed at full speed.
