outlet pass
Quick court-length throw
An outlet pass is a basketball term for a quick pass, usually by a rebounder, to a teammate positioned to start a fast break.
The pass "outlets" the ball from the congested area near the basket to open court: He grabbed the rebound and fired an outlet pass to the point guard streaking upcourt.
