throw-down

Intense physical altercation

A throw-down is a confrontation or fight, often impromptu and intense: There was a throw-down in the parking lot after the game.

The term extends to any spirited competition or challenge—a dance throw-down, a cooking throw-down.

As an adjective, it describes something meant to be discarded after use, especially a weapon planted by police to justify a shooting: a throw-down gun.
