A return line is a pipe or channel that carries fluid back to its source after circulation through a system.
In heating systems, the return line brings cooled water back to the boiler; in hydraulics, it returns oil to the reservoir.
The term also applies to fishing: the line attached to a harpoon or spear that allows retrieval of the catch.
