retsina

Hellenic resinous vintage

Retsina is a Greek white or rosé wine flavored with pine resin, giving it a distinctive sharp, turpentine-like taste.

The resin was originally used to seal amphorae, and Greeks acquired a taste for the flavor.

It's an acquired taste for most non-Greeks: The retsina was so pungent I couldn't finish my glass.
