reticulum
Ruminant's second chamber
A reticulum is a netlike structure or pattern.
In anatomy, it refers specifically to the second compartment of a ruminant's stomach—the one with honeycomb-textured walls that helps break down tough plant material.
The term also applies to any fine network of fibers, nerves, or cells in biological contexts: the endoplasmic reticulum. (Capitalized Reticulum is a constellation.)
