resharpening

Restoring the edge

Resharpening is restoring a cutting edge to a blade or tool that has dulled through use.

Knives, scissors, lawn mower blades, and drill bits all require periodic resharpening: The shop charges fifteen dollars for resharpening a chainsaw chain.

The prefix signals this isn't the original sharpening but a return to prior condition.
