resaw
Slice lumber thinner
To resaw is to cut lumber lengthwise into thinner pieces, typically on a bandsaw.
A thick board might be resawed into two or three thinner boards, or into veneer.
The term also works as a noun for the saw used in this operation.
Woodworkers resaw to get more material from expensive stock or to create bookmatched panels from a single piece.
