repulsor

Energy pushing device

A repulsor is a fictional device that generates a repelling force, most famously the palm-mounted weapons and flight stabilizers in Iron Man's suit.

The term draws on the physics concept of repulsion—forces that push objects apart rather than attract them.

In science fiction and comics, repulsors typically emit directed energy blasts or provide lift and thrust by pushing against surfaces or the air itself.

The repulsor blast knocked the enemy backward.
