region lock
Geographic access control
Region lock is a restriction that prevents media or software from being used outside a designated geographic area.
Video games, DVDs, and streaming services commonly use region locking to control distribution rights and pricing across markets: The Japanese version is region locked, so it won't play on American consoles.
To region lock is to apply such restrictions.
