jailbroken

Restrictions forcibly removed

Jailbroken describes a device—typically a smartphone or tablet—whose software restrictions have been bypassed, allowing installation of unauthorized apps or modifications.

The term evokes a prisoner escaping confinement: I jailbroke my iPhone to install apps Apple won't allow.

By extension, jailbroken applies to AI systems whose safety guardrails have been circumvented through clever prompting.
