rectors

Clergy who lead

Rectors are clergy members who head parishes or religious institutions, or administrators who lead certain universities and schools.

In the Anglican and Episcopal traditions, a rector leads a parish and typically controls its property and income, distinguishing the position from a vicar.

Some European universities call their chief academic officer a rector.

The rectors of several prestigious institutions issued a joint statement.
