rectal cancer
Lower intestinal tumor
Rectal cancer is a malignant tumor in the rectum—the final section of the large intestine, just above the anus.
It's often grouped with colon cancer as colorectal cancer, though treatment differs because of the rectum's location in the pelvis.
Symptoms include bleeding, changes in bowel habits, and pain.
Early screening can detect rectal cancer before symptoms appear.
