re-entrant

Angle pointing inward

Re-entrant describes something that turns back inward on itself.

A re-entrant angle points inward rather than outward—the interior corners of an L-shaped room are re-entrant.

In geography, a re-entrant is a valley or indentation cutting into higher ground.

In computing, re-entrant code can be interrupted mid-execution and safely called again before the first call completes: The function must be re-entrant to work in a multithreaded environment.
