rational number
Fraction-representable value
A rational number is any number that can be expressed as a fraction of two integers—a ratio, hence the name.
This includes whole numbers (5 is 5/1), decimals that terminate (0.75 is 3/4), and decimals that repeat (0.333... is 1/3).
Numbers like π and √2, which cannot be expressed as such fractions, are irrational.
