ram-raid

Crash through storefront

A ram-raid is a robbery in which thieves drive a vehicle through a storefront—typically smashing through plate glass or security shutters—to gain quick access for looting.

The method favors shops with valuable, portable goods: electronics stores, jewelry shops, ATMs.

As a verb, to ram-raid is to execute such a break-in: They ram-raided the jewelry store at 3 a.m.
