Railway hobby devotees
Railfans are enthusiasts devoted to trains and railroads.
The hobby encompasses watching trains, photographing them, collecting memorabilia, riding historic routes, and studying railroad history and operations.
Railfans gather at stations, crossings, and yards to observe: A dozen railfans lined the platform when the steam locomotive passed through.
Also called trainspotters, especially in British English.
