branch lines
Feeder rail routes
Branch lines are secondary railway tracks that diverge from a main line to serve smaller towns or destinations off the primary route.
They typically carry less traffic and may operate with reduced service compared to trunk lines.
Many branch lines were closed during railway rationalization in the mid-20th century: The old branch line to the coast hasn't run since 1965.
