paint schemes
Coordinated color selections
Paint schemes are coordinated color and pattern arrangements applied to vehicles, aircraft, buildings, or other surfaces.
The term emphasizes intentional design rather than simple color choice: The airline updated its paint scheme in the 1990s.
Model enthusiasts and military historians often discuss paint schemes when documenting authentic appearances of aircraft, cars, or ships.
