queen regent
Temporary female ruler
A queen regent is a queen who rules in place of a monarch who is absent, incapacitated, or too young to govern.
Unlike a queen regnant, who rules in her own right, a queen regent holds power temporarily on behalf of another—typically her minor child: Catherine de' Medici served as queen regent during her son's minority.
