quarter notes
Four per whole
Quarter notes are musical notes lasting one-fourth of a whole note, or one beat in common time.
They're the basic rhythmic unit in most Western music, the steady pulse you'd tap your foot to.
Written as a filled-in oval with a stem: The melody moves in quarter notes.
