Backing women's rights
Profeminist describes someone, typically a man, who supports feminist principles and goals without claiming the feminist label for themselves.
The distinction acknowledges that men can be allies to the movement while recognizing their different relationship to it: a profeminist men's group, profeminist scholarship on masculinity.
Some use it interchangeably with feminist; others insist on the distinction.
