printed books
Ink on pages
Printed books are physical volumes produced by printing text and images on paper, then binding the pages together.
The term gained currency as digital alternatives emerged—ebooks, audiobooks, online texts—creating a need to distinguish traditional codex format from electronic versions.
Some use printed books to emphasize the tactile, material reading experience: I still prefer printed books to reading on a screen.
