pre-firing
Ceramic kiln preparation
Pre-firing is shooting a weapon just before fully rounding a corner or clearing a doorway, anticipating an enemy's position.
The term comes from competitive first-person shooter games, where milliseconds matter: He pre-fired the angle and caught me before I could react.
The tactic trades ammunition for the advantage of already shooting when an opponent comes into view.
