point shot
Defense zone strike
A point shot in hockey is a shot taken from the point—the area near the blue line where defensemen typically position themselves during offensive zone play.
Point shots are often used to create rebounds or deflection opportunities in front of the net: He wound up for a point shot and the forward tipped it past the goalie.
