port side
Starboard's opposite direction
Port side is the left side of a ship or aircraft when facing forward.
The term comes from the side traditionally facing the port when docked.
Port replaced the older term "larboard" because it was too easily confused with "starboard" in shouted commands.
Port is marked by red lights; starboard by green: The captain ordered hard to port.
