plumber's tape
Thread-sealing strip
Plumber's tape is thin white tape wrapped around pipe threads before joining to create a watertight seal.
Also called Teflon tape or thread seal tape.
The tape fills tiny gaps between threads, preventing leaks at connections: I wrapped some plumber's tape around the showerhead fitting before screwing it on.
