pitched roof
Sloped house covering
A pitched roof slopes downward from a central ridge, as opposed to a flat roof.
The angle of slope is the pitch.
Most residential construction uses pitched roofs because they shed rain and snow effectively: The old farmhouse had a steeply pitched roof.
A roof with two sloped sides meeting at a ridge is the most common form.
