picot

Small decorative loop

A picot is a small loop or point forming part of an ornamental edging on lace, ribbon, or embroidery.

The loops create a delicate, decorative border along hems or seams: The handkerchief had a picot edge.

In knitting and crochet, a picot is made by chaining a few stitches and joining them back to form a tiny bump or loop.
