French knot

Raised thread dot

A French knot is an embroidery stitch that creates a small, tight knot on the fabric surface.

The thread is wrapped around the needle one or more times before reinserting it close to the exit point, producing a raised dot.

French knots are used for texture, flower centers, eyes, or scattered filling: She worked French knots across the entire background.
