photo archive
Stored picture collection
A photo archive is a collection of photographs organized for preservation and retrieval.
Archives may be institutional—newspapers, museums, government agencies—or personal.
The term implies systematic storage rather than casual accumulation: The newspaper's photo archive dates back to 1920.
Digital photo archives have largely replaced physical filing systems of negatives and prints.
