periosteal
Covering the bone
Periosteal means relating to or affecting the periosteum—the dense membrane of connective tissue that covers bones.
The term appears in medical and anatomical contexts: periosteal reaction, periosteal blood supply, periosteal inflammation.
Surgeons speak of periosteal elevation when lifting this membrane from bone during procedures.
