pepperpot

Tripe stew, Caribbean

A pepperpot is a container for ground pepper, typically with small holes in the lid for shaking.

In Caribbean and American cooking, pepperpot is also a spicy stew—the Caribbean version features cassareep and meat, while the Philadelphia version combines tripe and vegetables: She made her grandmother's pepperpot recipe.
