rollway
Timber sliding channel
A rollway is an incline or chute down which logs are rolled, especially into a river for transport.
In logging operations, rollways served as staging areas where cut timber accumulated before being sent downstream: The logs piled up at the rollway, waiting for the spring drive.
The term also applies to any sloped surface designed for rolling heavy objects.
