Group's guiding authority
A patrol leader is the person in charge of a small group, typically in scouting organizations where a patrol is a unit of six to ten scouts.
The patrol leader organizes activities, represents the group at meetings, and mentors younger members.
The term also applies in military contexts to whoever commands a patrol unit: The patrol leader signaled for the squad to halt.
